Mobile Alabama Celebrates Pride Around the World!

Mobile Pride 2011 Press Release
Mobile, Al. Mobile Alabama Pride April 29, 30 and May 1st 2011
A parade, celebration in the park... a softball tournament and even a VIP party overlooking historic downtown Mobile! These are just a few of the special events being planned for "Mobile Alabama Celebrates Pride Around the World!" MAP is a member of Interpride.org, an international association for organizations that produce pride events around the world. Its member organizations are dedicated to producing Pride events for the global Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) community. Interpride chose this year's theme, which will be shared by organizations around the world.
Mobile Alabama Pride has made headlines in recent years in positive ways... securing a member of the Mobile City Council as a rider in the annual Pride procession, diplomatically restoring funding for our parade in the face of city wide budget cuts... in other words, making sure our celebration retains it's rightful place in Mobile's long list of community events. But the most important mission is involving Mobile's LGBTcommunity in a display of camaraderie and purpose... and just plain fun! Your group or organization is also encouraged to take part in the annual pride parade through downtown Mobile. Be watching for ways to get involved and more events soon to be announced.
Once again, the Holiday Inn, Downtown Mobile Historic District will serve as the host hotel. Details and special rates will be announced soon. You can help support Mobile Alabama Pride Weekend by sponsoring an event, or by advertising in the annual Pride program. For details, visit the MAP website at www.mobilealabamapride.com
PRIDE is a COMMUNITY Event!! Mobile Alabama Pride invites you to give feedback and help shape the Pride Events for 2011's Pride Festival and Parade! They are seeking motivated people who are interested in being on the board as well as volunteering. Pride meetings are held at the Mobile Arts Council, 318 Dauphin Street, on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
